 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, Physical and  sexual  abuse  of  children  is  a
 3    complex problem with far-reaching effects; its prevention and
 4    treatment  require  specialized  clinical care and a range of
 5    additional services that address the needs of abused children
 6    in the context of family, school, community,  and  the  child
 7    protection system; and

 8        WHEREAS,  Child  Abuse  Unit  for  Studies, Education and
 9    Services  (C.A.U.S.E.S.)  was  founded  in  1975  by   Nahman
10    Greenburg,  M.D.,  an  eminent child psychiatrist, to address
11    all phases  of  the  problem  of  violence  toward  children,
12    including sexual abuse; and

13        WHEREAS,  C.A.U.S.E.S.  has  provided  comprehensive  and
14    intensive  therapy services to sexually and physically abused
15    children; with the combined efforts of this organization  and
16    the  citizens  of  this  State,  they  are  working to make a
17    difference in the lives  of  all  children  who  suffer  from
18    abuse; and

19        WHEREAS,  Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, one of
20    Illinois' greatest humanitarians, has been recognized for his
21    diligent commitment to  under  served  and  under  privileged
22    children throughout the State of Illinois; and

23        WHEREAS,  On  Tuesday  April  15,  C.A.U.S.E.S., will pay
24    tribute to the Honorable Jesse White with the Child  Advocate
25    of  the  Year Award to be given during Child Abuse Prevention
26    Month; the annual dinner will  begin  at  6:00  p.m.  at  the
27    Hilton Chicago on Michigan Avenue; therefore, be it

28        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
29    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
30    we  commend  the  Child  Abuse  Unit  Studies,  Education and
31    Services (C.A.U.S.E.S.) for its continued efforts and join in

 1    paying  tribute  to  the  Honorable  Jesse  White   for   his
 2    outstanding  commitment  to the children throughout the State
 3    of Illinois; and be it further

 4        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 5    presented  to  the Board of Directors of The Child Abuse Unit
 6    for Studies, Education and Services and the  Honorable  Jesse
 7    White.
