 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the  State  of  Illinois are pleased to recognize significant
 4    anniversaries in the State; and

 5        WHEREAS, It  has  come  to  our  attention  that  Calvary
 6    Academy in Springfield has reached a milestone anniversary in
 7    education; and

 8        WHEREAS, Calvary Academy was the vision of Calvary Temple
 9    Christian  Center Founding Pastor M.C. Johnson, who wanted to
10    provide  Christian  education  to   the   young   people   of
11    Springfield and the surrounding area; and

12        WHEREAS,  In  1977,  Pastor  Johnson  met with his church
13    board and made the decision to build Calvary Academy adjacent
14    to the church building at 1730 West Jefferson in Springfield;
15    in the beginning  there  were  few  students  and  some  very
16    nervous teachers; and

17        WHEREAS,  Today  Calvary  Academy has moved into the 21st
18    Century;  Calvary  Temple  and   Calvary   Academy   recently
19    celebrated  the purchase of new property on the south side of
20    the city, a total of 276 acres of  land  that  will  see  the
21    school  and  church  grow  and  develop  into the vision that
22    Pastor Johnson had twenty five years ago; therefore, be it

23        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
24    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25    we congratulate the staff, faculty, and students  of  Calvary
26    Academy  in Springfield on the recent celebration of the 25th
27    Anniversary of the Academy and on the purchase  of  new  land
28    for the purpose of expansion; and be it further

29        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
30    presented to Pastor M.C. Johnson along with our  best  wishes
31    for the continued success of Calvary Academy.
