 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The Joliet Area/South Suburban  Alumnae  Chapter
 3    of  Delta  Sigma  Theta  Sorority,  Inc.  is hosting the 2003
 4    Illinois Statewide Founders Day; and

 5        WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded  in
 6    1913  with  emphases in education, scholarship, physical, and
 7    mental health, economic development, political awareness, and
 8    international awareness; and

 9        WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is comprised of
10    over 200,000 college-educated  women  aroudn  the  world,  of
11    which nearly 4,000 are active in the State of Illinois; and

12        WHEREAS,   These  Illinois  Sorors  hold  key  leadership
13    positiions and are very dedicated to public service in  their
14    communities; and

15        WHEREAS,  The  Joliet Area/South Suburban Chapter remains
16    focused on its commitment  to  sisterhood,  scholarship,  and
17    service; therefore, be it

18        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
19    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
20    we  proclaim  March  29,  2003 as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
21    Inc. Founders Day in the State of Illinois; and be it further

22        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
23    presented  to  the Joliet Area/South Suburban Alumnae Chapter
24    of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. with our best wishes  for
25    a successful Founders Day event.
