HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Shirley R. Lee started her 37-year public service career for Kendall County in 1967 for the Kendall County Treasurer, and worked in that office until 1971; in 1972, she worked for various county departments, as needed; in the Treasurer's office during tax season, the Superintendent of School's office film library, and the County Assessor's office; she was also a permanent part-time employee for the Circuit Clerk's office; and

WHEREAS, In 1973, she began working full-time in the Circuit Clerk's office; in 1980, she was elected Kendall County Circuit Clerk, and has served for six terms, for a total of 24 years; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure in the Circuit Clerk's office, she served 8 years as a jury commissioner and Temporary Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson for Zone 5; she is a member of Illinois State Association of Court Clerks and a charter member of the Northeast Circuit Clerk's Association, holding the office of secretary since 1991; she is also a member of the Kendall County Women's Republican Club, the National Republican Women's Club, the Kendall County Police Chiefs Association, the Kendall County Bar Association, the Illinois Family Support Enforcement Association, and she was appointed by the Chief Judge of the 16th Circuit Court to serve on several judicial technology committees, and has participated in several state pilot programs; and

WHEREAS, She has been a life-long member of the Newark Lutheran Church, serving in various capacities over the years as a Sunday School Teacher, Children's Choir Director, Church Trustee, and fellowship hall building committee member; she is a past member of the Newark Community Club, and served two terms on the Kendall County 4-H Youth Council; and

WHEREAS, Shirley is a life-long resident of the Newark area, and is married to Donald R. Lee; they have two children and seven grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Shirley R. Lee on her retirement and express our gratitude for her many years of public service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Shirley R. Lee.
