HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois were deeply saddened to learn of the death of
4 Eric Miller, age 41, of Chicago on November 24, 2003; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born in Chicago and grew up on the West
6 Side; the eldest boy in his family, he took on the role of dad
7 to his four siblings after their father died; and
 
8     WHEREAS, As the Quigley North High School valedictorian and
9 a standout basketball player, he had several academic and sport
10 scholarship offers, but turned them down to go to a university
11 close to his family; after graduating from DePaul University in
12 1985 with an accounting degree, he was a law clerk and, later,
13 the director of operations at the law firm of Feingold & Levy,
14 a job that inspired him to pursue a career in public service
15 and politics; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He worked on the issues staff for the Illinois
17 House of Representatives before moving to county government in
18 1999, where he was special assistant to Cook County Board
19 President John H. Stroger, Jr.; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Eric had an entrepreneurial attitude and was the
21 classic example of a self-motivated man; he brought his keen
22 intellect and attention to detail to every endeavor he
23 undertook; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of Eric Miller has been felt by all
25 who knew and loved him, especially his daughter, Jehan; his
26 mother, Ada; his sisters, Angela Renee and Michele; his
27 brothers, Theron and Seaphes; his grandmother, Navie Butler;
28 and his fiancee, Rita Alviar; therefore, be it
 
29     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
2 mourn the passing of Eric Miller and extend our sincerest
3 condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it
4 further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
7 sympathy.
