HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of the
3 House of Representatives of the State of Illinois have learned
4 of the death of United States Marine Lance Corporal Nicholas
5 Larson of Wheaton who died while proudly serving his country in
6 combat in Iraq; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Nicholas Larson, 19, was the son of Anne and David
8 Larson of Wheaton, Illinois; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Larson was a 2003 graduate of
10 Wheaton North High School, who selflessly volunteered to serve
11 in the U.S. armed services as his father and grandfather had
12 done before him; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Larson was attached to the 3rd
14 Battalion, 1st Marine Division based out of Camp Pendleton,
15 California and proudly served the nation as an infantryman; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Even in high school, Nicholas diligently prepared
17 himself for military service, hanging a rope in the back yard
18 to work on navy seal exercises, and lifting weights after
19 school to prepare himself for the rigors of enlistment; and
 
20     WHEREAS, On November 9, 2004, Lance Corporal Larson was
21 killed during combat operations to capture the Iraqi city of
22 Fallujah from Islamic insurgents and will be remembered by many
23 as a hero; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of Lance Corporal Larson has been
25 deeply felt by many, especially his parents, Anne and David
26 Larson; sister Katie; maternal grandparents, Patrick and
27 Virginia O'Sullivan; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins and
28 friends; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 honor U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Nicholas Larson for his
4 commitment, dedication, and sacrifice in the service of his
5 family, community, and country; and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That we pray for the safety and well-being of
7 Lance Corporal Larson's fellow service members as they continue
8 to stand in harm's way in service in Iraq and around the world;
9 and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Lance Corporal Nicholas Larson, as
12 an expression of our deepest sympathy for their loss.
