 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives wish
 3    to congratulate the Rolling Meadows Library  on  being  named
 4    the  North  Suburban Library System's Library of the Year for
 5    2002; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Rolling  Meadows  Library  has  fostered   many
 7    community  partnerships;  through  the efforts of the Rolling
 8    Meadows  Library,  Devon  Bank  donated  computers   to   the
 9    Bibiloteca  Library  and   as  part of a multi-organizational
10    Police  Neighborhood  Resource  Center,  children  have   the
11    opportunity  to use computers for education and entertainment
12    at the Rolling Meadows Library; and

13        WHEREAS,  Rolling  Meadows  Library  has  expanded,  with
14    Spanish-speaking  staff,  to  provide  gateway  programs   to
15    Hispanic  patrons  to  explore the more extensive services at
16    the main facility; and

17        WHEREAS,  Rolling  Meadows  Library  partners  with   the
18    Northwest  Cultural  Council with a second floor gallery with
19    artwork  from  local  artists  available  for  purchase;  the
20    Cultural Council also refers musicians  to  the  library  for
21    their  concert  programs;  the  Friends  of  Rolling  Meadows
22    Library  have  set  up  a  bookstore  in partnership with the
23    library staff; and

24        WHEREAS, The Rolling Meadows  Library  staff  is  closely
25    partnered  with the City of Rolling Meadows and networks with
26    local business to inform them of available library  services;
27    staff   also   participated  with  the  Chamber  of  Commerce
28    committee that developed a municipal information website; and

29        WHEREAS, The Rolling Meadows Library has a staff that  is
30    devoted, creative, hard-working, and visionary; their support
31    of the North Suburban Library System and the community, local

 1    government,  and  service  projects  show  that  the staff is
 2    working  to  meet  the  diverse  needs  of   the   community;
 3    therefore, be it

 4        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 5    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
 6    we  commend  the staff of the Rolling Meadows Library for the
 7    work that it does  in  the  community  and  to  assist  other
 8    libraries,  and  we  congratulate the Rolling Meadows Library
 9    staff on being named  the  North  Suburban  Library  System's
10    Library of the Year for 2002; and be it further

11        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
12    presented to the Rolling Meadows Library as a  token  of  our
13    respect and esteem.
