HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Brody Walworth on attending the American Legion Boys Nation leadership conference in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Walworth is a resident of Mattoon; he is a senior at Mattoon High School; and

WHEREAS, The conference was held on July 23-31; participants acted as delegates to the conference's mock Senate; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Walworth was one of two delegates from Illinois to attend the conference; he was chosen to be a representative during the Premier Boys State event held at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston in June; and

WHEREAS, Each delegate drafted a "bill" prior to the conference, and four committees decided which proposed laws would make it to the Senate's floor; Mr. Walworth was elected chairman of his committee; and

WHEREAS, During the conference, Mr. Walworth and the other ninety-six delegates visited the new World War II memorial, the Vietnam memorial, the Korean memorial, the Lincoln memorial, the Armed Forces Court of Appeals, the United States Supreme Court, the State Department, and the Capitol Building; he also visited Arlington National Cemetery and was one of two of the delegates chosen at random to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Walworth listened to several speakers during the conference, including Holocaust survivor, Messe Godin, Clerk of the Supreme Court, Bill Suter, and Undersecretary of Political Affairs, Marc Grossman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Brody Walworth on serving as a delegate to the American Legion Boys Nation leadership conference; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Walworth as an expression of our respect and esteem.
