HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of this Body are honored to recognize significant milestones in the lives of the people of this State; and

WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Clara Alice Eccles of Salem recently celebrated the 108th anniversary of her birth on July 6, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Clara Alice Lee was born on July 6, 1896, in the Orchardville area; she married John Eccles on January 29, 1923; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Eccles celebrated this momentous birthday with a few close friends, including Salem Mayor Leonard Ferguson who presented her the Key to the City for the third year in a row and, likewise, for the third year in a row, she sang "Yankee Doodle Dandy" to him; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Eccles has outlived her husband, her four children, and all of her siblings; she still has surviving grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we sincerely congratulate Clara Alice Eccles on the occasion of her 108th birthday; and we wish her good health and continued happiness in all of her endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Clara Alice Eccles as a token of our esteem and admiration.
