HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for the people of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that a celebration of the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Dr. and Mrs. Roland Alexander of Fairview Heights will be held on July 10, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Roland Alexander is originally from Virginia; he is a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and Carbondale and is retired from School District 189; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Williams Alexander was born in Mississippi; she is a graduate of Jackson State University, where she was Miss Jackson State; she is also a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and is retired from Cahokia School District 187; and

WHEREAS, Roland and Joyce Alexander are the proud parents of two sons, Derek Alexander and Robert Alexander; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. and Mrs. Roland Alexander on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary; we commend them for achieving a long and happy marriage and we wish them happiness and good health in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. and Mrs. Roland Alexander as a expression of our admiration.
