HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, School district 200 was formed over 150 years ago; and

WHEREAS, School District 200 is a community unit district serving approximately 14,300 students in grades Pre-K through 12 who live in the communities of Wheaton and Warrenville, and portions of Winfield, Carol Stream, and West Chicago; and

WHEREAS, School District 200 has adopted a business model of month to month budgeting that has been recognized by community and national organizations; and

WHEREAS, The Association of School Business Officials International's Certificate of Excellence program reviews the accounting practices and reporting procedures used by school districts in their Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports; districts which earn the Certificate of Excellence receive an award as well as enhanced credibility for the financial management of their school system; and

WHEREAS, School District 200 has been recognized each year since 1999 for the award and continues to be a leader in school budget management; and

WHEREAS, School District 200 should serve as a model to all other schools in Illinois; and

WHEREAS, School District 200 has offered itself as a resource to other school districts wishing to learn the principles of month to month budgeting; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that School District 200 shall be commended for its budgetary excellence; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be provided to Community Unit District 200 and the Illinois State Board of Education.
