HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that a
4 House Teen Poverty Task Force is created for the purpose of
5 studying teen parenting, school dropout, youth homelessness,
6 and health issues that are closely related to teen poverty; and
7 be it further
 
8     RESOLVED, That the House Teen Poverty Task Force shall
9 consist of 4 members of the House of Representatives appointed
10 by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and 4 members of
11 the House of Representatives appointed by the Minority Leader
12 of the House of Representatives; the members shall be chosen to
13 ensure geographically diverse representation; the membership
14 shall include at least one Representative serving on each of
15 the following committees: the House Human Services Committee,
16 the House Elementary & Secondary Education Committee, the House
17 Health Care Availability and Access Committee, the House
18 Housing and Urban Development Committee, the House
19 Appropriations-Elementary & Secondary Education Committee, and
20 the House Appropriations-Human Services Committee; the Speaker
21 of the House of Representatives and the Minority Leader of the
22 House of Representatives shall each designate one appointee to
23 serve as co-chair; and be it further
 
24     RESOLVED, That the House Teen Poverty Task Force shall hold
25 at least 2 meetings at which public testimony shall be heard;
26 additional meetings may be scheduled and activities may be
27 added as necessary at the discretion of the co-chairs; the
28 House Teen Poverty Task Force may use outside experts to help
29 it staff the Task Force and research the issues; the House Teen
30 Poverty Task Force may conduct joint meetings with the Senate
31 Teen Poverty Task Force; and be it further
 
32     RESOLVED, That the House Teen Poverty Task Force shall

1 submit a written report, including recommendations for steps to
2 address teen poverty in Illinois, to all members of the General
3 Assembly, the Governor's office, and relevant State agencies no
4 later than January 11, 2005.
