HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, We believe that AMTRAK is an insufficiently
3 utilized service available for State employee travel; and
 
4     WHEREAS, We believe that State employees frequently travel
5 by air and automobile between Chicago and Springfield and other
6 cities where more economical AMTRAK service is available;
7 therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10 direct the Auditor General to conduct a study of reimbursable
11 expenses incurred by the employees of certain large State
12 agencies, during Fiscal Year 2004, for travel between Chicago
13 and the following cities: Springfield, Bloomington, Macomb,
14 and Urbana-Champaign; and be it further
 
15     RESOLVED, That the Auditor General has discretion to
16 determine which large agencies are to be studied, except that
17 at least one of the agencies studied must be headed by each of
18 the State's Constitutional Officers; and be it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That the study shall take specific notice of
20 reimbursable expenses for travel between Chicago and the
21 following institutions: the University of Illinois at
22 Springfield, Illinois State University, Western Illinois
23 University, and the University of Illinois at
24 Urbana-Champaign; and be it further
 
25     RESOLVED, That the study shall include the number of trips
26 between Chicago and each location by air, by automobile, and by
27 AMTRAK and the total cost of the trips between Chicago and each
28 location by air, by automobile, and by AMTRAK; and be it
29 further

1     RESOLVED, That the Auditor General is directed to suggest
2 any additional procedures that might be implemented to make it
3 easier to track the travel expenditures of State employees; and
4 be it further
 
5     RESOLVED, That the Auditor General is directed to report
6 his or her findings to the General Assembly and to each of the
7 State's Constitutional Officers no later than March 1, 2005;
8 and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be delivered to
10 the Auditor General and to each of the State's Constitutional
11 Officers.
