SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
New Act

    Creates the Women's Access to Education and Training Act. Creates the Task Force on Women's Access to Education and Training to address efforts on developing and expanding women's access to participation in education and training opportunities and to identify the State-specific barriers that prevent more women from continuing their education and entering the workforce at a variety of levels. Requires the Task Force to annually report its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly.

1     AN ACT concerning women's access to education and training.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5 Women's Access to Education and Training Act.
 
6     Section 5. Task Force on Women's Access to Education and
7 Training.
8     (a) The Task Force on Women's Access to Education and
9 Training is hereby created. This task force shall consist of
10 all of the following members:
11         (1) A representative of the Department of Commerce and
12     Community Affairs.
13         (2) A representative of the State Board of Education.
14         (3) A representative of the Board of Higher Education.
15         (4) Persons representing business and labor
16     organizations appointed by the Governor.
17     (b) The members of the task force shall serve without
18 compensation but shall be reimbursed for their reasonable and
19 necessary expenses from funds available for that purpose. The
20 task force shall meet initially at the call of the Governor,
21 shall select one member as chairperson at its initial meeting,
22 and shall thereafter meet at the call of the chairperson.
 
23     Section 10. Responsibilities of task force. The Task Force
24 on Women's Access to Education and Training has all of the
25 following responsibilities:
26         (1) To address efforts on developing and expanding
27     women's access to participation in education and training
28     opportunities.
29         (2) To identify the State-specific barriers that
30     prevent more women from continuing their education and
31     entering the workforce at a variety of levels.

1     Section 15. Report of task force. The Task Force on Women's
2 Access to Education and Training shall annually report its
3 findings and recommendations to the General Assembly by filing
4 copies of its report by December 31 of each year as provided in
5 Section 3.1 of the General Assembly Organization Act.
