 1        AN ACT concerning state employee health benefits.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The  State  Employees Group Insurance Act of
 5    1971 is amended by adding Section 6.15 as follows:

 6        (5 ILCS 375/6.15 new)
 7        Sec.  6.15.  Mental  health  benefits.   The  program  of
 8    health benefits  shall  include  benefits  for  treatment  of
 9    mental  illness.   The  benefits  provided  for  treatment of
10    mental  illness  may  not  permit  treatment  limitations  or
11    financial requirements  on  the  benefits  for  treatment  of
12    mental   illness   if   similar   limitations   or  financial
13    requirements are not imposed on  benefits  for  treatment  of
14    other conditions.
