SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

305 ILCS 5/5-5.5b new

Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that in addition to the base monthly reimbursement paid to sheltered care facilities under the Medicaid program, the Department of Public Aid shall make supplemental payments to sheltered care facilities to reimburse such facilities for their expenses incurred in transporting residents to medically necessary visits to providers of health care services. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning sheltered care.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by adding Section 5-5.5b as follows:

(305 ILCS 5/5-5.5b new)

Sec. 5-5.5b. Sheltered care facilities; medical transportation of residents. In addition to the base monthly reimbursement paid to a sheltered care facility under this Article, the Department of Public Aid shall make supplemental payments to a sheltered care facility to reimburse the facility for its expenses incurred in transporting residents to medically necessary visits to providers of health care services.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
