    Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the Department of Public Aid and the federal Parent Locator Service.

1     AN ACT in relation to support.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5 changing Section 10-3.2 as follows:
 
6     (305 ILCS 5/10-3.2)  (from Ch. 23, par. 10-3.2)
7     Sec. 10-3.2. Parent Locator Service. The Illinois
8 Department through its Child and Spouse Support Unit shall
9 enter into agreements with the Secretary of Health and Human
10 Services or his or her designee under which the services of the
11 federal Parent Locator Service established by the Social
12 Security Act are made available to this State and the Illinois
13 Department for the purpose of locating an absent parent or
14 child when the child has been abducted or otherwise improperly
15 removed or retained from the physical custody of a parent or
16 other person entitled to custody of the child, or in connection
17 with the making or enforcing of a child custody determination
18 in custody proceedings instituted under the Uniform Child
19 Custody Jurisdiction Act or the Uniform Child-Custody
20 Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act, or otherwise in accordance
21 with law. The Illinois Department shall provide general
22 information to the public about the availability and use of the
23 Parent Locator Service in relation to child abduction and
24 custody determination proceedings, shall promptly respond to
25 inquiries made by those parties specified by federal
26 regulations upon receipt of information as to the location of
27 an absent parent or child from the federal Parent Locator
28 Service and shall maintain accurate records as to the number of
29 such inquiries received and processed by the Department.
