 1        AN ACT making appropriations.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The  sum  of  $2,000,000, or so much of that
 5    amount as may be necessary, is appropriated from the  General
 6    Revenue  Fund  to  the  Department  of  Public  Health for an
 7    increase  in  the  amounts  allocated   for   the   following
 8    activities  of  the  Office  of  Women's  Health  within  the
 9    Department:
10             (1)  Increasing  the  amount or number of grants, or
11        both, for funding research  in  various  areas  including
12        breast  cancer,  cardiovascular  disease,  depression and
13        other mental health issues, osteoporosis, and diabetes.
14             (2)  Expanding  statewide  screening  programs   for
15        osteoporosis,  diabetes,  domestic  violence,  and mental
16        health issues.

17        Section 99.  Effective date. This  Act  takes  effect  on
18    July 1, 2003.
