 1        AN ACT relating to community scholarship matching grants.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 1.  Short title. this Act may  be  cited  as  the
 5    Community Scholarship Matching Grants Act.

 6        Section 5.  Definitions. In this Act:
 7        "Commission"   means   the  Illinois  Student  Assistance
 8    Commission.
 9        "Community    scholarship    organization"    means    an
10    organization that  is  exempt  from  taxation  under  Section
11    501(c)(3)  of  the  Internal  Revenue  Code  of 1986 and that
12    awards higher  education  scholarships  to  students  without
13    regard  to age, gender, marital status, race, color, national
14    origin, ancestry, physical disability, or religion.

15        Section  10.  Matching  grants  program.  The  Commission
16    shall establish and administer a program that  awards  grants
17    to  community  scholarship  organizations.  The amount of the
18    grant  per  year  for  each  organization  that  applies  and
19    qualifies shall equal the amount that  the  organization  has
20    awarded in scholarship funds that year, not to exceed $2,000.

21        Section  15.  Rules.  The  Commission may adopt any rules
22    necessary to implement this Act.
