 1        AN ACT concerning schools.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5. The Public University Energy Conservation Act
 5    is amended by adding Section 50 as follows:

 6        (110 ILCS 62/50 new)
 7        Sec. 50.  Building audit. Each  public  university  shall
 8    contract  to  have  an  independent energy conservation audit
 9    performed with respect to all buildings and facilities  owned
10    or  operated  by  the  university.  If the audit reveals that
11    energy  conservation  measures  should  be  implemented  with
12    respect to any building or facility and those  measures  will
13    provide   long-term   operating  cost  reductions,  then  the
14    university must implement the measures within 10 years  after
15    the audit is completed.
