 1        AN ACT in relation to vehicles.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.   The  Illinois  Vehicle  Code  is amended by
 5    changing Section 11-1010 as follows:

 6        (625 ILCS 5/11-1010) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-1010)
 7        Sec. 11-1010.  Pedestrians under influence of alcohol, or
 8    drugs, or intoxicating compounds.
 9        (a)  A pedestrian who is under the influence of  alcohol,
10    or any drug, any intoxicating compound, or any combination of
11    alcohol,  drug,  or  intoxicating  compound to a degree which
12    renders himself a hazard shall not walk or be upon a  highway
13    except on a sidewalk. A violation of this subsection (a) is a
14    Class C misdemeanor.
15        (b)  A  person  who  violates  subsection  (a)  and, as a
16    result of the violation, is a proximate cause of an  accident
17    resulting  in  great bodily harm or death to any other person
18    is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.
