 1        AN ACT in relation to utilities.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.   The  Public  Utilities  Act  is  amended by
 5    changing Section 8-302 as follows:

 6        (220 ILCS 5/8-302) (from Ch. 111 2/3, par. 8-302)
 7        Sec. 8-302. Reading  of  meters.   The  Commission  shall
 8    require  that  every  public  utility  furnishing  natural or
 9    artificial gas, electricity, or water to  the  public,  where
10    the  individual consumption is measured by meter, shall, upon
11    written request of any consumer, cause the  meter  reader  at
12    the time of reading the such consumer's meter to leave at the
13    such  meter  a card showing the present reading of the meter,
14    the last previous reading, and the dates of the  2  such  two
15    readings.
