 1        AN ACT concerning the General Assembly.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The General Assembly Staff Assistants Act is
 5    amended by changing Section 1a as follows:

 6        (25 ILCS 160/1a) (from Ch. 63, par. 131.1)
 7        Sec. 1a.  Number; designation. There shall be such  staff
 8    assistants  for  the  General  Assembly  as necessary. Of the
 9    staff assistants so provided, one half the total number shall
10    be  for  the  Senate  and  one  half   for   the   House   of
11    Representatives.  Of  the assistants provided for the Senate,
12    one half shall be designated by the President and one half by
13    the minority leader. Of the assistants provided for the House
14    of Representatives, one  half  shall  be  designated  by  the
15    Speaker and one half by the minority leader.
