SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kevin M. Dolan of Mundelein, who passed away on October 7, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Dolan was born in Youngstown, Ohio to John and Mary Dolan on July 15, 1957; he attended St. Edwards Elementary School and Ursuline High School; he graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1979 with a degree in finance, and while in college, he developed a number of lifelong friendships; he married Barb Wirtes in 1981; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Dolan began working for Abbott Laboratories after graduation; he worked there for 33 years, retiring in 2012; while there, he served in a number of finance and accounting roles, including vice president and controller for TAP Pharmaceuticals and vice president and controller of the US Pharmaceutical Division, and enjoyed close friendships with many colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Dolan served as Mundelein park district commissioner beginning in 1997; during which time, he founded the annual Dolan St. Patrick's Day Party; he was a member of the school board for the Santa Maria del Popolo School, and this experience as an elected official inspired him to seek his position with the park district; he also served on the board of trustees for the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) and as a former chairman of the IAPD board; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Dolan loved golf since he was a child, which would inspire him to become owner and proprietor of the Four Seasons Golf Resort and Tiki Bar; his other post-retirement pursuits apart from golfing and abundant grilling for folks, included serving on the executive board of North Shore Bank and being a silent partner in Our Lord's Little Ones Preschool; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Dolan was a 3rd degree member of the Mundelein chapter of the Knights of Columbus; he coached his sons' basketball teams and had played in basketball and softball leagues with his friends; he was a Tig Award winner at the Bud Bash; above all, he cherished his role as a husband and father; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Dolan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack Dolan; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Dolan is survived by wife, Barb; his children, Brian, Maggie, Sean, Kevin, and Meghan; and his grandchildren, Maeve, Clare, and Quinn; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kevin M. Dolan and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kevin Dolan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
