SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Janell Ann Marshall of Springfield, who passed away on January 19, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Janell Marshall was born in Davenport, Iowa to Janet Henning and Lowell Tennyson on August 15, 1967; she graduated from West High School in 1985 and graduated with honors from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management; and

WHEREAS, Janell Marshall proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class before retiring after 20 years of service; she was a supply and transportation specialist and served in Germany, Desert Storm, Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, and Afghanistan; she received a Bronze Star and was "Soldier of the Year"; and

WHEREAS, Janell Marshall held the position of membership and meetings coordinator for the Illinois State Dental Society for the last 16 years; she was an active member of the Illinois Society of Association Executives, where she served as a co-chair of the special events committee and as a board member; in 2014, she received the Illinois Society of Association's Rising Star Award for her demonstrated involvement and commitment to the association's management field; and

WHEREAS, Janell Marshall is survived by her parents, Janet and Richard Henning Sr. and Sandra and Lowell Tennyson; her sister, Julie Artiszewski, and companion Scott Miles; and the many friends and coworkers whose lives where improved by her dedication and service; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Janell Ann Marshall and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Janell Marshall as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
