SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Janell Ann Marshall of Springfield, who
4passed away on January 19, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Janell Marshall was born in Davenport, Iowa to
6Janet Henning and Lowell Tennyson on August 15, 1967; she
7graduated from West High School in 1985 and graduated with
8honors from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of
9Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Janell Marshall proudly served in the U.S. Army
11Reserve, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class before
12retiring after 20 years of service; she was a supply and
13transportation specialist and served in Germany, Desert Storm,
14Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, and Afghanistan; she received a Bronze
15Star and was "Soldier of the Year"; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Janell Marshall held the position of membership
17and meetings coordinator for the Illinois State Dental Society
18for the last 16 years; she was an active member of the Illinois
19Society of Association Executives, where she served as a
20co-chair of the special events committee and as a board member;
21in 2014, she received the Illinois Society of Association's
22Rising Star Award for her demonstrated involvement and

1commitment to the association's management field; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Janell Marshall is survived by her parents, Janet
3and Richard Henning Sr. and Sandra and Lowell Tennyson; her
4sister, Julie Artiszewski, and companion Scott Miles; and the
5many friends and coworkers whose lives where improved by her
6dedication and service; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Janell Ann Marshall and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Janell Marshall as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
