SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
510 ILCS 50/21  from Ch. 8, par. 188

    Amends the Illinois Diseased Animals Act. Provides that if a quarantine issued by the Department of Agriculture is violated, the Department or the Department's designee may seize and destroy any of the animals subject to the quarantine, impose a fine not exceeding $1,000 for each animal in violation of the quarantine, or both. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning animals.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Diseased Animals Act is amended by
5changing Section 21 as follows:
 
6    (510 ILCS 50/21)  (from Ch. 8, par. 188)
7    Sec. 21. Any person who, knowing that any contamination or
8contagious or infectious disease exists among his animals,
9conceals such fact, or knowing of the existence of such
10disease, sells any animal or animals so contaminated or
11diseased, or any exposed animal, or knowing the same, removes
12any such contaminated, diseased, or exposed animal from his
13premises to the premises of another, or along any public
14highway, or knowing of the existence of such contamination,
15disease, or exposure thereto, transports, drives, leads or
16ships any animal so contaminated, diseased, or exposed, by any
17motor vehicle, car or steamboat, to any place in or out of this
18State; and any person who brings any such contaminated or
19diseased, or knowingly, brings any such contaminated or exposed
20animals into this State from another state; and any person who
21knowingly buys, receives, sells, conveys, or engages in the
22traffic of such contaminated, diseased, or exposed stock, and
23any person who violates any quarantine regulation established

1under the provisions of this or any other Act, for each,
2either, any or all acts above mentioned in this Section, is
3guilty of a petty offense and shall forfeit all right to any
4compensation for any animal or property destroyed under the
5provisions of this Act. If a quarantine issued by the
6Department is violated, the Department or the Department's
7designee may seize and destroy any of the animals subject to
8the quarantine, impose a fine not exceeding $1,000 for each
9animal in violation of the quarantine, or both.

11    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
12becoming law.
