SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Thomas Foster "Tom" Londrigan of
4Springfield, who passed away on January 28, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan, the son of Joseph A. and Loretta
6(Foster) Londrigan, was born in Springfield on May 10, 1937;
7he attended Hazel Dell Elementary School, Little Flower
8School, and Cathedral Boys High School, where he was an
9All-City football player; he graduated from the University of
10Notre Dame, where he was chosen as the first captain of the
11university's inaugural varsity swim team, and he received his
12Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois; he served in the
13U.S. Air National Guard on kitchen duty and later in the Judge
14Advocate General's Office; he also served in the U.S. Navy
15Reserve from 1962 to 1980, rising to the rank of commander; he
16married Carol Ann Fish at the Cathedral of the Immaculate
17Conception on August 31, 1963; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan first worked as an Assistant United
19States Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice under
20Robert F. Kennedy; he later worked at his father's firm of
21Londrigan and Londrigan before creating his own firm,
22Londrigan and Potter, later known as Londrigan, Potter &
23Randle, P.C.; during his career, he served as president of the

1Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and won a landmark verdict
2for families in Taylorville who were exposed to environmental
3carcinogens; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan was a member of the Catholic Church
5of St. Jude in Rochester and the Church of the Little Flower in
6Springfield; he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus,
7the YMCA, Lincoln Memorial Gardens, the International Star
8Class Yacht Racing Association, and the Island Bay Yacht Club;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan enjoyed sailing, fishing, skiing,
11and flying; he won the Great Lakes Championship in the Star
12Class and the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac in 2012; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan was a devoted husband, father, and
14grandfather; he took great pride in his children's
15achievements and loved creating special memories for his
16grandchildren; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan was preceded in death by his
18parents; his wife, Carol; his son, Patrick Joseph Londrigan;
19and his brother, Michael Londrigan; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan is survived by his children, Joseph
21P. (Amanda) Londrigan, Thomas (Betsy) Londrigan Jr., and

1Genevieve Turner; nine grandchildren; and several aunts,
2uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Thomas Foster "Tom" Londrigan and extend our sincere
6condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
7him; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Tom Londrigan as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
