SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Esther Irene Bruns Kinner, who passed away on January 25, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Esther Kinner was born to Lawrence Fredrick and Mayme (Klokkenga) Bruns on March 19, 1948; at age 16, she began a 50-plus year career in the competitive events office during the Illinois State Fair; she graduated from San Jose High School; she received a bachelor's degree in education from Illinois State University and a master's degree from Saint Xavier University; she married William David "Bill" Kinner on November 17, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Esther Kinner began teaching music at the elementary schools in Pleasant Plains School District #8 in 1970, retiring in 2005; she continued to provide piano lessons after retirement; and

WHEREAS, Esther Kinner was a member and elder of Farmingdale Presbyterian Church and the Women's Ruth Circle; she was an active member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and Kappa Delta Omega; and

WHEREAS, Esther Kinner was an avid attendee of the Springfield Symphony; and

WHEREAS, Esther Kinner was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Carol; and her niece, Trudi; and

WHEREAS, Esther Kinner is survived by her husband, Bill; her sister, Faye (Bill Lawson) Bruns; her "adopted" sister, Patty Taylor; her stepdaughters, Kristine (fiance, Sheldon Fairfield) Clemens and Dawn (John) Weatherford; four step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandsons; her sister-in-law, Carol (Bob) Pappas; her brothers-in-law, Rick (Mary) Kinner and Tim (Cynde) Kinner; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Esther Irene Bruns Kinner and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Esther Kinner as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
