| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Donald R. "Don" Funk of Hudson, who | 4 | | passed away on October 22, 2024; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Don Funk was born in Gridley to Leo and Clara | 6 | | (Oberlander) Funk on September 5, 1941; he married Janet E. | 7 | | "Jan" Shlipf in Fairbury on April 21, 1963; he served in the | 8 | | United States Army National Guard; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Don Funk enjoyed a long career working as an | 10 | | electrician for IBEW Local #34, retiring after 43 years; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Don Funk was a member of Hudson United Methodist | 12 | | Church; he loved snowmobiling at his cabin in the woods and | 13 | | watching and talking football; he adored his family and | 14 | | appreciated every friend he had; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Don Funk was preceded in death by his parents; | 16 | | his stepmother, Beulah Funk; and his brother, Merle Funk; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Don Funk is survived by his wife, Jan; his sons, | 18 | | Todd (Dawn) and Tim (Kim) Funk; his grandchildren, Brittany | 19 | | (Grant) Gordon, Madison (Alex) Hudson, Nathan (Anna) Funk, and | 20 | | Hannah, Mackenzie, and Nic Funk; his great-grandchildren, Ryan |

| 1 | | and Isla Gordon and Matthew Hudson; his brother, Ross (Linda) | 2 | | Funk; and his sisters, Donna Cox and Roslyn Hibbs; therefore, | 3 | | be it | 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 5 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 6 | | Donald R. "Don" Funk and extend our sincere condolences to his | 7 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 8 | | further | 9 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 10 | | presented to the family of Don Funk as an expression of our | 11 | | deepest sympathy. |
