SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lavern Arthur "Vern" Moore of Cambridge, who passed away on October 4, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Vern Moore, the son of Leo L. and Blanche M. Buckley Moore, was born in Cambridge Township on June 28, 1937; he was educated in Cambridge schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1955; he later attended Black Hawk College; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1955 to 1957 and with the U.S. Army Pacific at its headquarters in Hawaii from 1957 to 1959; he married Janis Marie Humphrey in Orion on June 1, 1958; and

WHEREAS, Vern Moore worked as a laboratory manager for Regal/National By-Products in Illinois and Iowa, retiring after 38 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Vern Moore was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church; he was a past master and life member of Cambridge Lodge No. 49, A.F. and A.M.; and

WHEREAS, Vern Moore enjoyed antiquing, gardening, and hunting; and

WHEREAS, Vern Moore was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his infant granddaughter, Megan Anne Allison; and

WHEREAS, Vern Moore is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Ken) Allison and Susan (Kenny) Beam; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his brother, Howard Moore; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lavern Arthur "Vern" Moore and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Vern Moore as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
