HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate MainStreet Libertyville for its 35 years of service and thank them for their hard work on behalf of downtown Libertyville; and

WHEREAS, On April 25, 1989, MainStreet Libertyville was founded as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing community identity and heritage, fostering a center of activity, and ensuring economic stability in the heart of Libertyville through concentrated efforts of education, design, promotion, organization, and economic revitalization; and

WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville has demonstrated excellence in community revitalization efforts and received the Great American Main Street Award in 1997 from Main Street America; and

WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville has advocated for small business owners and economic vitality in downtown Libertyville and partnered with local stakeholders, community leaders, and volunteers to help create and maintain a unique and vibrant shopping, dining, and entertainment district in downtown Libertyville; and

WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville holds more than 55 days of community and retail events that bring thousands of people to the heart of downtown Libertyville, including Let's Wine About Winter, First Fridays, Girls' Nights Out, Car Fun on 21, the Farmers Market, Lunch in the Park, Sidewalk Sales, MainSweet Dessert Walk, Oktoberfest in Libertyville, Trick or Treat on MainStreet, Small Business Saturday, and Dickens of a Holiday; and

WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville brings thousands of people from the community and tourists to enjoy the historic charm and independent retailers, restaurants, and service providers in downtown Libertyville; and

WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville is also a part of Illinois Main Street and a national network of more than 1,200 Main Street Communities accredited and affiliated with Main Street America, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate MainStreet Libertyville for its 35 years of service and thank them for their hard work on behalf of downtown Libertyville; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to MainStreet Libertyville as an expression of our esteem and respect.
