SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph Martin "Joe" McKenna of Erie, who passed away on April 22, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Joe McKenna, the son of Martin and Kathryn (Riordon) McKenna, was born in Sterling on August 14, 1944; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Frances Dean Hanks, and she preceded him in death in 1974; he later married Gloria Rosenow at the Erie United Methodist Church on November 23, 1985; and

WHEREAS, Joe McKenna worked as a welder at John Deere Harvester for 30 years, retiring in 2003; and

WHEREAS, Joe McKenna and his wife, Gloria, operated an antique shop for 14 years, and they worked at many antique shows on weekends; and

WHEREAS, Joe McKenna enjoyed gardening and working on the farm; he also enjoyed going to casinos and playing cards with family; and

WHEREAS, Joe McKenna was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joseph McKenna; his brothers, Tom and Clare; and his sisters, Annette and Mary; and

WHEREAS, Joe McKenna is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gloria; his children, Lloyd (Christine) McKenna, Shawn (Donna) McKenna, Martin (Kandi) McKenna, and Kathryn (Mark Cox) McKenna; his stepchildren, Carla (Roger) Jaquet, Christopher (Christine) Mortensen, Jeff Mortensen, and Jodi (Jim Garson) Youngberg; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joseph Martin "Joe" McKenna and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joe McKenna as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
