SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Dennis M. Laird of Moline, who passed
4away on April 16, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dennis Laird was born to Dale C. Laird Jr. and
6Arietta A. (Holmes) Laird in Rock Island on August 17, 1949; he
7served in the U.S. Army with the 23 Infantry Division in
8Vietnam; he married Jeanette York in Rock Island on April 29,
91972; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dennis Laird worked at International Harvester
11Farmall Works in Rock Island for several years; he later
12worked for Wilson's Moving Company in Davenport, Iowa; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dennis Laird was a member of the Vietnam Veterans
14of America, Quad Cities Chapter No. 669, Milan American Legion
15Post No. 569, MAVA, and the Americal Division Veterans
16Association; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dennis Laird loved dirt car racing, drag racing,
18and visiting with his friends and family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dennis Laird was preceded in death by his parents
20and his sister, Crystal Seabolt; and

1    WHEREAS, Dennis Laird is survived by his wife of 51 years,
2Jeannette; his children, Tabitha Laird and Dennis M. (Stacey)
3Laird II; his grandchildren, Carly Ater-Laird, Devin Laird,
4Kaitlin Warner, and Chase Laird; his great-grandchildren,
5Bryant and Kyler; and his brothers, Kirk Laird and David
6(Eileen) Laird; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Dennis M. Laird and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Dennis Laird as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
