SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David K. "Dave" Burkhead of Rock Island, who passed away on April 19, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Dave Burkhead was born to Fred and Dorothy (Timm) Burkhead in Rock Island on May 9, 1936; he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after high school, and he was honorably discharged on September 16, 1962; he married Joan Van Den Hende in Rock Island on February 13, 1960, and they settled in Rock Island, where they raised their family; and

WHEREAS, Dave Burkhead spent his career as a water treatment operator, first serving the City of Rock Island before joining the Rock Island Arsenal, where he worked until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Dave Burkhead was a talented woodworker and was always working on some sort of project at his house; he was a sports fan and loved bowling, playing softball, and attending all of his children's and grandchildren's sporting events; and

WHEREAS, Dave Burkhead was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan; his brothers, Edward, Jerome, and Ralph Burkhead; and his grandson, Alyn Hall; and

WHEREAS, Dave Burkhead is survived by his children, Rick Burkhead, Bob (Mary) Burkhead, Linda (Mike) Guay, Rita Entsminger, and Pamela (Rich) Hall; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his sister, Joan Hancks; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of David K. "Dave" Burkhead and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dave Burkhead as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
