SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Drexel R. Franks of Rock Island, who passed away on February 17, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Drexel Franks was born in Rock Island on September 29, 1953; he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk; he married MaryEllen Franks in Rock Island on November 2, 1973; and

WHEREAS, Drexel Franks worked for Montgomery Escalator, currently Kone, in Moline for 27 years; he retired from Marco in Davenport, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Drexel Franks was an avid fan of westerns and country music; he enjoyed going to the Active Day Senior Center in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Drexel Franks was preceded in death by his wife, MaryEllen, and his son-in-law, Richard Whitcomb; and

WHEREAS, Drexel Franks is survived by his children, Amy Whitcomb, Sarah (Steve) Rockwell, and Matthew (Jacqueline) Franks; his grandchildren, Kyler (Hanna), Abbi (Adam), Rachel, Kaitlyn, Maddie, Jackson, and Ben; his siblings, Andrea (Tom) Johnson, Stan (Deanna) Franks, and Cheryl (David) Hardy; his life-long friend, Dean (Deanna) Snow; and his four-legged companion, his dog, Duke; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Drexel R. Franks and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Drexel Franks as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
