SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Charmayne C. Simmons, who passed away
4on January 21, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charmayne Simmons was born on December 9, 1934;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Charmayne Simmons embarked on a dedicated nursing
8career that spanned several hospitals, including Rush
9Presbyterian Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital, Mercy Hospital,
10Michael Reese Hospital, and La Rabida Children's Hospital,
11from which she ultimately retired; her commitment to helping
12others and facing life's challenges head-on was a testament to
13her unwavering dedication to her profession; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Beyond her nursing career, Charmayne Simmons was
15a versatile individual, demonstrating skills in home
16remodeling and furniture reupholstering; together with her
17daughter, she explored the world of home inspections,
18showcasing her relentless pursuit of knowledge and
19self-improvement; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Throughout her later years in life, Charmayne
21Simmons faced numerous health battles with unshaken

1determination, confronting each setback with remarkable
2strength; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Charmayne Simmons was a woman of deep faith who
4held strong convictions, instilling these values in her
5children; she will be remembered for her courageous spirit,
6her tenacity, and her unyielding resolve; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Charmayne Simmons is survived by her children,
8Roy A. (Rita) Simmons and Joyce C. "Jai" (the late D'Andrea)
9Simmons-Adams; her grandchildren, Steven (Elisa), Anthony
10"A.J." Landis Moore, Jessica, Lil Roy, and Paris; her
11great-grandchildren, Eliana and Steven Jr.; her siblings,
12Theodore, Monica, Eileen, and Adrienne; and a host of nieces,
13nephews, relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Charmayne C. Simmons and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Charmayne Simmons as an expression
21of our deepest sympathy.
