SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Henry A. "Hank" Sundeen Jr. of Moline, who passed away December 7, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Hank Sundeen was born in Moline to Henry and Eugenie (Renolot) Sundeen on February 5, 1947; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Valarie "Val" Neubauer in Rock Island on June 25, 1973; and

WHEREAS, Hank Sundeen retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as department manager and was a sports writer for the Rock Island Dispatch Argus; and

WHEREAS, Hank Sundeen was a member of the Alleman Booster Club and Illinois High School Association basketball, baseball, football, and track and field; he was an avid volunteer for many organizations; and

WHEREAS, Hank Sundeen was preceded in death by his wife, Val; his daughter, Holly Marie; and his brother, Bernard Sundeen; and

WHEREAS, Hank Sundeen is survived by his children, Andy (Michelle) Sundeen and Christine (James) Jorgensen; his grandchildren, Jason (Christine), Jamie (Steve), Matthew (Tre), Alyse (Nick), Braden, and Carter; his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Owen, Mila, Conner, and Leah; and his brother, John (Clarice) Sundeen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Henry A. "Hank" Sundeen Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Hank Sundeen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
