SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate Michael Olvera on his successful election as
4business manager of Iron Workers Local 111, anchored in
5Illinois' Quad Cities; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The International Association of Bridge,
7Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union
8Local 111 is a proud member of the Illinois AFL-CIO and a trade
9association whose beginnings go back to 1907; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The International Iron Workers Union represents
11120,000 members across North America; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Iron Workers build skillfully, ensuring quality
13bridges, infrastructure improvements, schools, office
14buildings, hospitals, and more are safely erected; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Iron Workers are the "Bridge Builders of
16Illinois" as demonstrated by the improvements to at least 533
17bridges since the beginning of the historic Rebuild Illinois
18Capital Plan; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Iron Workers are doing their part in the
20renewable energy sector to help construct wind turbines, solar

1fields, and hydrogen facilities, helping power Illinois;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate and
5thank Iron Workers Local Union 111 for their invaluable work
6on our state's infrastructure; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
8presented to Business Manager Mike Olvera and the Iron Workers
9Local Union 111 Union Hall as an expression of our esteem and
10respect for the daily work iron workers do to make Illinois a
11leading state for world-class infrastructure and emerging
12competitors in renewable energy.
