HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
3Assembly pays honor and respect to truly great individuals who
4have served our country and, in doing so, have made the
5ultimate sacrifice for our nation; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Private First Class Donnie Joe Clough of
7Hindsboro was born to Joseph and Pearl Tate Clough in Tuscola
8on July 27, 1949; and
 
9    WHEREAS, PFC Clough volunteered to serve in the U.S.
10Marine Corps in July of 1968; he was sent overseas on January
1127, 1969, serving as a rifleman in the 1st Marine Division, 2nd
12Battalion, 5th Marine, F Company; and
 
13    WHEREAS, PFC Clough was killed while on duty in the Quang
14Nam Providence in Vietnam on September 9, 1969; and
 
15    WHEREAS, PFC Clough was awarded the Purple Heart, the
16Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal with one
17Service Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense
18Service Medal, and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal; and
 
19    WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, PFC Clough was
20survived by his parents; his brothers, Clyde Russel, Doyle

1Wayne, Alvin Layel, and Bruce Dean; and his sisters, Virginia
2Taylor, Carol Layton, Debra Louise, Linda Sue, and Pamela Kay;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, PFC Clough's name has been immortalized on Panel
5WI8, Line 61 of the Vietnam Wall Memorial in Washington, D.C.;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
9SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Illinois Route 133
10as it travels through Hindsboro as the "PFC Donnie J. Clough
11Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
13is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
14State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
15giving notice of the name "PFC Donnie J. Clough Memorial
16Highway"; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
18presented to the family of PFC Clough and the Secretary of the
19Illinois Department of Transportation.
