SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Natalie Susan McDowell of Monticello,
4who passed away on November 6, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell was born in Decatur to Kathleen
6(Brown) and James Mauck Sr. on February 1, 1967; she graduated
7from Sullivan High School in 1985 and attended Millikin
8University, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha
9Sorority and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1989;
10she married Brian D. McDowell at the First United Methodist
11Church in Sullivan on June 15, 1991; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell was a compassionate and caring
13nurse who worked with the Decatur Memorial Hospital pediatrics
14department, the Lincolnland Visiting Nurses Association, and
15the Sullivan, Bement, and Monticello school systems; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell was active in Kirby Medical
17Center CrossFit and St. Jude's runs; she never missed her
18sons' school activities or sports and was an avid fan of the
19Illini, the Green Bay Packers, and the St. Louis Cardinals
20because they were her sons' favorite teams; she was a member of
21the Monticello United Methodist Church, where she served as
22Director of Youth Ministry; she led high school and middle

1school youth groups and planned and accompanied youth on
2numerous retreats and mission trips; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell was a devoted and loving wife
4and mother; she was a dedicated and attentive mother-in-law,
5daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, aunt, and cousin; she was
6an incredibly upbeat and positive person, with a smile and a
7ready laugh to greet everyone she met; she had boundless
8energy; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell was preceded in death by her
10parents; her father-in-law, Jerry McDowell; and her
11brother-in-law, Steven Breckenridge; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Natalie McDowell is survived by her husband,
13Brian; her sons, Andrew J. (Sarah) McDowell and Austin L.
14McDowell (Lily Stromberg); her brothers, Dr. James (Patricia)
15Mauck and Dr. Gregory (Kimberly) Mauck; her sister, Cindy
16(Greg) Tarr; her mother-in-law, Judy McDowell; her
17sister-in-law, Kim (Jerry Long) Breckenridge; her relatives,
18Linda and Grant Hoskins and Marlyn (Joe) Harrison; 17 nieces
19and nephews; nine grandnieces and grandnephews; 11 cousins;
20and numerous friends; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Natalie Susan McDowell and extend our sincere condolences to
2her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
3further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Natalie McDowell as an expression
6of our deepest sympathy.
