SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Alvin W. Martin Jr. of Rock Island,
4who passed away on November 11, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alvin Martin was born to Alvin and Marie
6(Vansoye) Martin in Moline on April 22, 1931; he served in the
7U.S. Army during the Korean War; he married Frances
8Hockenberry on April 4, 1952 while stationed at Camp Cook in
9California; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Alvin Martin worked as a master electrician for
11the Rock Island Lines, Farmall, and Williams White and
12Company, Moline; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Alvin Martin belonged to the International
14Association of Machinists, the Knights of Columbus Allouez
15Council 658, and AARP; he was an original member of St. Pius X
16Catholic Church, Rock Island; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Alvin Martin was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa
18Hawkeye fan and coached Little League Baseball for many years;
19he and his wife enjoyed summers in Bagley, Wisconsin and their
2018 years of wintering in Jensen Beach, Florida; and

1    WHEREAS, Alvin Martin was preceded in death by his wife;
2his parents; his siblings, Joyce Eisentrager and Jerry Martin;
3his grandson, Jacob Crawford; and his daughter-in-law, Becky
4Marti; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alvin Martin is survived by his children, Rick
6(Kathee) Martin, Cindy Crawford, Deborah Carlson, Michelle
7(Ed) Vize, Bradley Martin, and Jennifer (Jeff) Wendland; his
8grandchildren, Lynn (Aaron) Justinger, Luke (Courtney) Martin,
9Brett (Sandra) Martin, Michael (Amy) Crawford, Joe (Christine
10Lehigh) Crawford, Gregory (Kyra) Carlson, Ed (Kathy) Vize,
11Eric (Joei) Vize, Sarah (Randy) Stevens, Allyson (Ken) Dogan,
12Alexander (Samantha) Martin, Patrick Martin, Scott (Tara)
13Wendland, and Meaghan (Ben) Jackson; his granddaughter-in-law,
14Christina Lee; his 26 great-grandchildren; and his numerous
15nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Alvin W. Martin Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Alvin Martin as an expression of our
23deepest sympathy.
