SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James Henry "Jim" Hendricks of Virden, who passed away on November 11, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Jim Hendricks was born in Chicago to Joseph H. and Elinor C. (Heuser) Hendricks on November 10, 1937; he graduated from Virden High School in 1955 and from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1959; he married Margaret Eleanor DeLassus in 1960; and

WHEREAS, Jim Hendricks was deeply involved in the Virden community since taking over his family business, Hendricks Home Furnishings in Virden, in 1962; and

WHEREAS, Jim Hendricks had a love of business, his family, and getting to know community members and customers from all over Central Illinois; during his lifetime, he was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish in Virden and served on the Virden Chamber of Commerce, the First National Bank Board, the Virden Cemetery Board, and the Virden School Board; he was interested in current events, politics, fishing, and gardening and held a deep love for his country; and

WHEREAS, Jim Hendricks was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joe Hendricks; and

WHEREAS, Jim Hendricks is survived by his wife, Margaret; his children, Amy M. (Roger) Cacciatori, Jamie J. Hendricks, and Becky J. Hendricks; his grandchildren, Matt Eskew and Meghan (Zane) Richardson; his great-grandson, Cole Eskew; his sister, Judy (Ken) MacMurdo; his brother, Jeff (Judy) Hendricks; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James Henry "Jim" Hendricks and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Hendricks as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
