SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of William Ellison "Bill" Kelly of Rock
4Island, who passed away on October 12, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Kelly was born in Newton, Iowa on January 3,
61929; he later moved to Davenport, where he graduated from
7Davenport High School; he served as head cook in the 109th
8Infantry, 28th Division, F Company in the U.S. Army during the
9Korean War, where he supervised the meals for 900 troops while
10overseas in Germany; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bill Kelly later worked in sales and owned his
12own pizza and sub shop; after his wife passed, he met Judy
13Saylor and spent the last 37 years refinishing and selling
14antiques, attending estate sales, and RV traveling to antique
15shows; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bill Kelly was a member of the Sons of the
17American Revolution; he enjoyed golfing and boating,
18especially sailing with his son-in-law, Art; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bill Kelly was preceded in death by his spouse,
20LaVerna Darleen (Meyer); his parents, Clarence William and
21Ruth Gladys (Bumgardner) Kelly; his brother, George; his

1sister, Constance; and his son, Kevin Patrick; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Bill Kelly is survived by his daughters, Kristy
3Lynn (Arthur) Durham, Kathleen Rose (the late Don) Ketelsen,
4and Koleen Michele (Charles) DeLaRosa; his 19 grandchildren;
5his 36 great-grandchildren; his 15 great-great grandchildren;
6his several nieces and nephews; his companion, Judy Saylor,
7her children, Chris and Amy, and her granddaughter, Lilie;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11William Ellison "Bill" Kelly and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Bill Kelly as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
