| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Cheryl (Bills) McIntire of Danville, | 4 | | who passed away on September 3, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl McIntire was born to Eldon and Bernice | 6 | | Bills in Elgin Memorial Hospital on September 22, 1955; she | 7 | | was raised in Barrington; she graduated from Barrington High | 8 | | School in 1973 and Illinois State University in 1977; she | 9 | | married Robert McIntire in Barrington in 1978; she later | 10 | | obtained her master's degree in Social Work from the | 11 | | University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her master's | 12 | | degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl McIntire took a job as a juvenile | 14 | | probation officer for the McLean County Court Services Office | 15 | | after graduating from Illinois State University; her | 16 | | professional career led her to the Illinois Department of | 17 | | Children and Family Services as a caseworker, which she | 18 | | maintained as her family moved to Ottawa and then Champaign; | 19 | | her husband's employment then led her to Catlin in Vermilion | 20 | | County, where she obtained employment as a school social | 21 | | worker for the Vermilion Association for Special Education and | 22 | | then Danville District 118; she then returned to DCFS as a | 23 | | supervisor and moved to Danville before advancing to the |

| 1 | | position of assistant regional administrator for the Central | 2 | | Region of DCFS; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl McIntire matriculated at Eastern Illinois | 4 | | University to obtain a master's degree after her employment | 5 | | with DCFS ended; she interned for Danville District 188 before | 6 | | serving as principal of Pleasant Acres Elementary School in | 7 | | Rantoul; she then served as principal of Northeast Elementary | 8 | | Magnet School in Danville; during her tenure, Northeast | 9 | | Elementary was awarded the Gold Award from the Alliance For A | 10 | | Healthier Generation for the healthy food program the school | 11 | | instituted, becoming the first elementary school in the nation | 12 | | to receive such an award; she left District 118 to return to | 13 | | DCFS as an assistant deputy director, administering adoptions | 14 | | statewide for the agency; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, After her retirement, Cheryl McIntire served as | 16 | | executive director for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Vermilion | 17 | | County and as an administrator for the Center for Youth and | 18 | | Family Solutions; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl McIntire was initiated as an alumni member | 20 | | of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for women in 2013; she enjoyed | 21 | | antiquing and owned several antique businesses in the Danville | 22 | | area; she was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan and was present at | 23 | | Wrigley Field with her husband and daughter when the Cubs |

| 1 | | clinched the pennant in 2016; she loved walking and spoiling | 2 | | her Scottish Terriers, Thompson and Katie; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl McIntire was known for her lifelong | 4 | | devotion to children, beginning with her social work | 5 | | internship for the Salvation Army in Chicago's Bridgeport | 6 | | neighborhood; she loved helping children in her care, | 7 | | assisting her students to succeed, and mentoring others who | 8 | | had the same devotion; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl McIntire was preceded in death by her | 10 | | daughter-in-law, Carolyn (Jeffrey) McIntire; her brother, | 11 | | Douglas Bills; and her sister, Deborah (Duane) Cope; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Cheryl McIntire is survived by her daughter, | 13 | | Melinda McIntire; her stepson, Jeffrey (the late Carolyn) | 14 | | McIntire; her brothers, Dennis (Nancy) Bills, Richard | 15 | | (Suzette) Bills, and brother Allen (Pamela) Bills; her sister, | 16 | | Karen Bills See; and her brother-in-law, Duane Cope; | 17 | | therefore, be it
| 18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 19 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 20 | | Cheryl (Bills) McIntire and extend our sincere condolences to | 21 | | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 22 | | further
