SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Carl L. "Butch" Eckermann of Rock Island, who passed away on February 6, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Carl Eckermann was born in Rock Island to Kenneth and Barbara (Hall) Eckermann on February 24, 1938; he served in the U.S. Navy; he married Judith A. Ransom in Kahoka, Missouri on February 24, 1955, and she preceded him in death in May of 2019; he cherished his wife, and after her passing, he would visit her gravesite every day; and

WHEREAS, Carl Eckermann was the owner/operator of Construction Machinery; prior to that, he was a salesman for Jaydon; and

WHEREAS, Carl Eckermann was an avid boater and had a slip at Sunset Marina for over 40 years; he was a jokester and never met a stranger; he never missed his breakfast at McDonald's on 11th Street at 5:30 am every morning; and

WHEREAS, Carl Eckermann was preceded in death by his wife, Judith; his parents; and his granddaughter, Ashlyn Marshall; and

WHEREAS, Carl Eckermann is survived by his children, Terri (Ken) Reamy, Mike (Lynda) Eckermann, Kim Lindsey, Barb Griese, and Cindy Eckermann; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his sisters-in-law, Janice (Rene) Segura and Kitty (Bill) Christman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Carl L. "Butch" Eckermann and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carl Eckermann as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
