SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Michael "Mick" LeRoy Yauger of Spring
4Grove, who passed away on March 21, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mick Yauger was born to Leroy and Teresa (Mahler)
6Yauger in Chicago on December 9, 1948; directly after
7graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army; while serving
8his tour in Vietnam, he achieved the rank of sergeant with the
9Army Airborne Infantry Rangers; he was also awarded a Silver
10Star and three Purple Hearts; he married Lynn Marchetti in
11October of 1970; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mick Yauger spent his life working in the
13construction industry, and he was past president of the Local
14786 Union, from which he retired; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mick Yauger was a tireless advocate for the
16veterans' community and an inspiration to former members of
17the military; he constantly worked to improve the lives of
18veterans not only in Illinois but throughout our nation; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mick Yauger enjoyed hunting in Wisconsin and
20Montana with his best friend, Larry Krause; he was very
21knowledgeable in the kitchen and was always ready to create a

1delicious meal from various cuisines; he will be remembered as
2a funny, charismatic, wonderful man who was generous to a
3fault; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mick Yauger was preceded in death by his parents,
5Leroy and Teresa Yauger; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mick Yauger is survived by his wife, Lynn; his
7stepson, Noel Berndt; his granddaughter, Jessica Berndt; his
8sister, Barbara (Stephen) Waters; his many nieces and nephews;
9and his best friend, Larry Krause; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Michael "Mick" LeRoy Yauger and extend our sincere condolences
13to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
14it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Mick Yauger as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
