SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Students, families, and seniors in the 56th
3Senate District are among the many fortunate beneficiaries of
4State Senator Rachelle Crowe's years of service in the
5Illinois Senate; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sen. Crowe demonstrated a profound interest in
7helping young people seize available opportunities and reach
8their full potential through education and hard work; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Because Sen. Crowe wholeheartedly believes law
10enforcement officers deserve the utmost respect for protecting
11our communities, she partnered with police groups to advance
12laws to support them and their families; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Sen. Crowe passed laws to fund bikeway, road, and
14bridge projects as well as vertical infrastructure throughout
15the Metro East, including a plan to renovate Lewis and Clark
16Community College's Main Complex to permit operations to
17continue safely at the 1890 facility; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Using her experience as a violent crimes
19prosecutor, Sen. Crowe has been a champion for victims, crime
20survivors, and their families by advancing numerous laws to
21strengthen protections, enhance penalties, secure justice, and

1reduce the DNA backlog; and
 
2    WHEREAS, As an advocate for education, Sen. Crowe
3supported initiatives to raise teacher salaries, address the
4teacher shortage, and increase the tax credit for educators
5who purchase school supplies for their classrooms; and
 
6    WHEREAS, When the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the daily
7lives of her constituency, Sen. Crowe worked to connect
8families with unemployment benefits, to offer support to
9school districts to implement e-learning, to uplift health
10care workers and other frontline employees; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Sen. Crowe helped secure millions of dollars to
12support small business owners, employees, and operations
13following closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic; and
 
14    WHEREAS, As a friend to veterans, Sen. Crowe hosted
15breakfast events, organized card drives, advocated for
16automatic property tax relief, and worked to provide resources
17to support happy, healthy lives after service; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Sen. Crowe led the state effort to strengthen
19protections for seniors, to deny inheritance to abusers, and
20to update practices through her work as chair of the Elder
21Abuse Task Force; and

1    WHEREAS, With strong family roots in the trades, Sen.
2Crowe voted against local right-to-work laws, toured several
3facilities, partnered with the aviation repair industry to
4save jobs, and advocated for use of Illinois-made products
5such as steel; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Because Sen. Crowe believes education and
7workforce training programs should be within reach for all,
8she advanced laws to create scholarship opportunities, to
9support adult literacy programs, and more; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Sen. Crowe believes that literacy is a
11fundamental skill and that creativity aids in innovative
12development, so she partnered with local libraries to host an
13annual summer book club event and other art contests for
14students throughout the district; and
 
15    WHEREAS, To provide resources for the Metro East
16community, Sen. Crowe organized food, clothing, and toy
17drives, hosted meal giveaways, provided shred equipment, and
18coordinated blood drives in honor of local first responders;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Sen. Crowe is a champion for women's health and
21supported monumental changes so that life-saving procedures

1would be covered by state insurance companies; and
 
2    WHEREAS, To improve outcomes for youth, Sen. Crowe passed
3laws to support mothers who need donated breast milk for their
4sick infants and also worked with a constituent to require
5insurance companies to provide heart and lung monitors for
6children; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Sen. Crowe was the first woman in Illinois
8history to lead the Senate Judiciary Committee as chair; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Sen. Crowe bids farewell to the Illinois Senate
10after three years of service to the 56th Senate District and
11the people of Illinois, during which she established a
12reputation as a knowledgeable, pragmatic, and committed public
13servant; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Sen. Crowe's public service began when she was an
15assistant state's attorney in the Madison County State's
16Attorney's Office; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Sen. Crowe's family has roots in the Illinois
18Metro East, and they instilled in her a deep respect and
19appreciation for teachers, education, and hard work; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Sen. Crowe was confirmed by the United States

1Senate to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District
2of Illinois; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank Senator
5Rachelle Crowe for her dedicated service to the people of
6Illinois and her significant contributions to the State; and
7be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to Sen. Crowe as a symbol of our gratitude with our
10best wishes for her future endeavors.
