HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James Edward Wilson, who passed away on April 26, 2022; and

WHEREAS, James Wilson was born to Reveal and Anna Mae Wilson in Galesburg on November 9, 1936; he attended Galesburg High School, where he excelled in sports and was a member of the Silver Streaks basketball team; he graduated from Western Illinois University; he served as a jet engine mechanic in the U.S. Air Force; and

WHEREAS, James Wilson had a fruitful career at Fermi National Laboratory, where he met the love of his life, Shirley Payne; together, they shared love, laughter, and leaning into their faith and each other for over 35 years; and

WHEREAS, James Wilson was a jack of all trades after retirement, serving as a car salesman, a school bus driver, and a pillar of motivational perpetuation at the funeral home, as well as a devoted deacon at Logan Street Missionary Baptist Church (MBC); he was also a past master at W.L. Darrow Masonic Lodge #10 in Galesburg; and

WHEREAS, James Wilson was affectionately known as "Red", "Paw Paw", and "Captain"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James Edward Wilson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Wilson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
