HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Kenwood Academy High School football team, the Broncos, on winning the 2021 Chicago Public League City Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Broncos defeated Simeon Career Academy 25 to 7 at Lane Stadium in Roscoe Village on November 20, 2021; and

WHEREAS, The Broncos were thrilled with the victory over Simeon after suffering a defeat by Simeon in the last regular season game; and

WHEREAS, This is the Broncos' first Public League championship and only their second appearance in the final; and

WHEREAS, Kenwood Academy is a four-year high school with an academic center for gifted students that starts in the 7th grade; it is located on the south side of Chicago in the community of Hyde Park and serves students who live in the Kenwood/Hyde Park areas, as well as those from surrounding neighborhoods; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Kenwood Academy High School football team, the Broncos, on winning the 2021 Chicago Public League City Championship, and we wish them many more successful seasons; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Broncos' players and coaches as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
