HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph
4James Murphy III, who passed away on November 13, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Murphy was born to Presiding Elder Elaine
6P. Murphy Walters Gordon and Joseph James Murphy II in Beverly
7Hills, California on May 27, 1977; he was baptized at two years
8old and catechized at St. James African Methodist Episcopal
9Church in Elkhart, Indiana; he was raised in the church of
10Allen under the leadership of the Rev. Walter L. Walters II;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Joseph Murphy remained deeply committed to his
13faith throughout his life; he became a full member of St. Paul
14AME Church in Indianapolis, Indiana; he was later a member of
15the Ward Chapel AME church in Peoria; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Joseph Murphy was well-read; he loved reading
17books and newspapers, watching the news, and keeping updated
18on world events; he enjoyed a good intellectual exchange and
19debating with others; he also loved music, and he was a
20connoisseur of hip-hop music and well-versed in the genre's
21history and artists; and

1    WHEREAS, Joseph Murphy was affectionately known as "Big
2Joe" and was often thought of as a gentle giant; he possessed a
3magical and magnetic personality and was known for his
4generosity and his great sense of humor; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Murphy will be remembered as a loving son,
6brother, uncle, friend, significant other, and father;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we mourn the passing of Joseph James Murphy III and extend our
11sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
12and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Joseph Murphy as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
